Crunch time for research

libraryThe library gets busier this time of the semester as students come in to do research for papers and projects

Sometimes the enormous amount of information available on a topic can be overwhelming to grapple with. The library has a great tool to help students narrow their research topics to something more manageable.

At http://libguides.whitworth.edu/research, students can follow a step-by-step process for research. On the first step, a worksheet is available to help students narrow their topic and turn it into a question that can be answered in a research paper or project. It doesn’t matter if extensive research has already been done! Research is an iterative process, and returning to narrow a concept after starting research is often a very productive exercise.

Please encourage your students to refer back to this page each time they have a paper to write. And, as always, also encourage them to get help from a librarian at any point in the process!
