November’s adjustments for first year students

Some common adjustments for first-year college students during the month of November.

  • Midterm grades returned
  • Time management issues trying to balance the demands of school, work, family, and social life
  • Roommate challenges may intensify
  • Excitement/anxiety about going home for Thanksgiving
  • First series of campus-wide illness (colds, flu)

Tip: if your student is coming home for Thanksgiving, make sure to give them time and space for a nap (or three).
